Calgary Public Library closed its locations across the city on Friday afternoon after reporting a cybersecurity breach, though the scope of the incident remained unknown.

The library said in a Friday afternoon statement that beginning at 5 p.m., it was proactively closing all its physical locations to mitigate the potential impact.

“(A)ll servers and Library computer access will also be turned off,” it said in its statement.

The library’s security team was working to determine the scope of the breach, it said, and will continue to provide timely updates of the closures as more information becomes available. It did not provide a timeline for when its 21 locations would reopen.
