Man fatally shot in alleged confrontation with police

An investigation has been launched into the fatal shooting of a man during an alleged confrontation with police on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Raymond Towando, an unemployed resident of Maxfield Avenue, Kingston 13.

According to reports, about 12:15 p.m., a police team confronted Towando along Bryden Road. He allegedly challenged the team, prompting them to take evasive action and open fire.

When the gunfire ceased, Towando was found injured.

An illegal Glock pistol, equipped with a magazine containing two nine millimetre rounds, was reportedly recovered at the scene.
