19-year-old student sentenced to life imprisonment

Nineteen-year-old Rohan Davis of Cherrington Road, Kingston 2, who was charged with the murder of a man on Yellow Sea Drive, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11 on Thursday, April 6, 2023, was sentenced to life imprisonment when he appeared before the Supreme Court on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Dead is 26-year-old Gregory Smith of Yellow Sea Drive, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11.

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that at about 8:25 a.m., Smith was sitting on the roadway, when he was pounced upon by Davis who shot him. The police were alerted and Smith was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation into the matter, Davis was arrested. He was charged on Wednesday, April 13, 2023, after he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

He was sentenced for murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. He pleaded guilty to these offences and was sentenced as the following: life sentence for murder, eligible for parole after serving 20 years and one month; and 20 years imprisonment for using a firearm to commit a felony.
