The Jamaica Labour Party's Floyd Green is urging Jamaicans not to vote against the party over unresolved issues about water and other public services.

"We have come too far for us to turn back. We have worked too hard for us to go back. Andrew Holness has done too much for this country for us to make it go to waste under the other side. So we will not switch out our representatives for some people that now because them a run election them start call to people.

His call comes amid the internal spats in the ruling party spilling out in the public in recent weeks.

"Don't be distracted. Don't be dismayed. I want to call on us to continue to promote party unity because unity and progress will make our nation strong," said Gayle, the president of the JLP-affiliated Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, at the party's conference on Sunday.

Fissures have emerged in the JLP's organisation in Manchester North Eastern over who will replace Audley Shaw; Samuda criticised general secretary Dr Chang for announcing his (Samuda's) exit without discussion and a councillor is reported to have accused the JLP leadership of disrespecting workers.
