Alarming moment teacher appears to attack student on school bus

This is the alarming moment a teacher allegedly attacked a student on a school bus. 

The altercation started yesterday afternoon when 14-year-old N.F. Woods School student Nyheem Ingram was caught by the teacher attempting to eat his lunch on a school bus. 

During the violent confrontation the teacher allegedly grabbed the child by his neck after Nyheem hit the teacher's leg.   

In the video shot by fellow student, Nyheem can be seen trying to eat his lunch while a teacher can be heard yelling: 'There's no food on the bus.' 

Nyheem then says the bus driver told him he could eat it if he threw it in the trash when the journey ended.

He also told the teacher that he was hungry because he hadn't eaten breakfast. 

It is once the video cuts out that the situation escalated.

Nyheem claims that after he struck the teacher's leg, the teacher then allegedly to put his hands around the child's neck. 

The student told WSOC Now: 'He [the teacher] smacked my food out of my hand, but you couldn't see that in the video.' 

A pupil who witnessed the alleged confrontation said: 'I never would have expected to see a teacher, like ever in my life, put their hands on a student.'  

N.F. Woods School, situated in Mooresville North Carolina,  does not serve meals at lunchtime so students have to pile onto school buses and go to nearby Mooreville High School for lunch which gives the students around 30 minutes to eat their meals.

Mooresville police confirmed that they are aware of the incident and are reviewing on-bus surveillance video and recordings.

Officials with the Mooresville Graded School District said they were aware of the allegations, as well.

In a statement they said: 'We can assure you that MGSD takes these matters very seriously.  

'Our district's Human Resources Department is conducting a thorough investigation and is working in collaboration with the Mooresville Police Department on this matter. NC General Statute protects the confidentiality of employee records so we will not be releasing additional information at this time.'
