Pensioner, 82, dies after being attacked on the street

Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of an 82-year-old pensioner who was assaulted. 

The elderly man died this morning, after an attack, which took place on Stoke Road last Tuesday. 

Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and have been released on bail. 

The victim's next-of-kin have been informed of his death and are being supported by specially trained officers from Thames Valley Police.

A formal identification of the victim is yet to take place, according to the police force.

Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: 'Firstly my thoughts are with the victim's family and friends at this difficult time.

'We believe that this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.' 

The police force have urged witnesses, or anyone with information regarding the incident, as well as anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage to call 101 or to make a report via the Thames Valley Police website, quoting reference 43240460762.
