Police have issued a warning to concerned parents after a man reportedly dressed up as a schoolboy and offered to walk a child home from class.

A student at the Priory Ruskin Academy in Grantham claimed they were approached by a man wearing the school's uniform with navy blue trousers who offered to walk them home on September 27.

Lincolnshire Police were made aware of the incident and spoke with the pupil and the school, which sent out an email to parents.

The academy advised students to call 999 if they notice similar sightings and encouraged parents and carers to remind their children of safety precautions.

A school in Sleaford recently reported a similar incident where a man was standing on a street near the school wearing school uniform

A force spokesperson said: 'We received a report on Friday afternoon that a pupil at Priory Ruskin Academy had been approached by an unknown person with a blond fringe and glasses who was wearing a school uniform.

'It is unknown if this was a man or a woman. We have spoken with the pupil and the school, and the school has issued an email to parents.

'We would encourage anyone who is concerned about another person behaving suspiciously to make a report to the police.'

Lincolnshire Police added that it is not linking the incident to a TikTok user named smartschoolboy9 who posts videos online while dressed as a schoolboy.

The King's School in Grantham also issued a statement to parents after the incident, asking children to 'remain vigilant and to not speak to strangers'.
