Moment police smash into a house and find thug hiding loaded gun
by Shannon Mcguigan · Mail OnlineA thug has been sentenced to five years in prison after being caught red-handed by police hiding a loaded gun in his trendy manbag.
West Midlands Police swooped into Syed Kashaff property on Sunnymead Road in Birmingham as part of a wider investigation into gang violence in the region.
The armed officers stormed into the well-kept home as they raced up the stairs to find a 22-year-old Kashaff standing next to a bed.
The dramatic bodycam footage showed the gang thug did not resist arrest as he was being apprehended by police.
But as officers went on to search Kashaff's room, they made a harrowing discovery inside a trendy manbag sitting on a neatly made bed.
Cops found a handgun and a six-round magazine inside the unsuspecting black leather satchel.
There were also six more rounds of ammunition discovered inside a hat tucked away in a wardrobe.
Kashaff, of Birmingham, admitted possession of a firearm and ammunition at Birmingham Crown Court.
On September 20, he was jailed for five years for the possession of a firearm and was also given a concurrent 16-month sentence for possession of ammunition.
Det Insp Jon Green, of West Midlands Police's Major Crime Unit, said: 'Kashaff's arrest came as part of a wider investigation into gang violence, which causes devastation and misery in communities.
'As a result of this discovery, we've taken a deadly weapon off the streets, and an individual with direct access to it is behind bars.'
The conviction is part of Operation Target, the police force's ongoing mission to target serious and organised crime across the West Midlands.
