The remains of a missing Missouri mother were found in a wooded area by a homeowner six months after she disappeared.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirmed through medical and dental records that the skeletal remains discovered by a Frissell Road homeowner in a wooded area September 28 belonged to Emily Strite.

Strite, 34, went missing in the De Soto area on April 12 and her friends said she was in and out of an abusive relationship with her youngest children's father, according to Fox 2 Now

Investigators have not determined the mother-of-four's cause of death and are working to learn more about her disappearance.

Police were alerted about the human remains by an unidentified property owner, the department said in a press release.

Her body showed no signs of foul play, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Information Coordinator, Grant Bissell, told Newsweek

No one has been arrested for her death or disappearance as of Wednesday.

Her remains were taken to the Regional Medical Examiner's Office, where she was identified, according to Newsweek.

Strike's mother, Charlyn McCain, has asked people to avoid the area where 'Emily was recovered' as the investigation continues, she pleaded in a Facebook post

Strike was last seen at a friend's house on 4th Street, where she was staying. She left the residence on foot, according to the Missing Persons flyer. She was reported missing eight days after she was last seen.

The last time McCain spoke with her daughter, she had her mother she was going to see her three youngest children, who live with their father in Illinois.

However, a week later, the children's father, Steve Fults, called McCain and asked if she had heard from Strite, who he said never told him she was coming to see her children.

Her friends remember her for her bright smile and how she lit up a room

'He has never called me and questioned anything about Emily or to tell me anything about Emily,' McCain said, according to Newsweek. 'That's why I panicked when he called me because he had never done that before.'

Her friends remember her for her bright smile and how she lit up a room.

'Everyone comments on her big, beautiful smile,' friend Amanda Bauman told Fox 2 Now. 'She literally lighted up a room every chance that she got.'

'[She was] a ray of sunshine to anybody, even if you're not, even if she's down, she's going to lift you up,' Christie Bauman told the outlet.

The sisters said their friend was a good person who a big heart who 'cared for everyone.'

'We pray now that we get answers,' Amanda told Fox 2 Now. 'And whoever hurt her is brought to justice.'
