Hunt for hooded beast who raped a grieving woman as she visited grave

A grieving woman who made a late evening visit to a grave in a cemetery was raped by an unknown man, detectives have revealed. 

The victim was physically attacked as well as sexually assaulted by the man who was wearing a coat which may have had a fur-lined hood.

The sex attack happened in a cemetery on Church Street, Edenbridge, Kent, a week ago but was not immediately reported to the police.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: 'It is reported a woman visiting a cemetery next to Church Street was physically and sexually assaulted by an unknown man. 

'The incident happened between 9pm and 9.30pm on Saturday November 9. It was reported last Tuesday.

'The suspect was described as being quite tall and of slim build. He was wearing a coat which may have had a fur hood.'

The statement added: 'Officers are continuing to pursue several inquiries to establish the full circumstances, including forensic analysis at the scene, checks for CCTV opportunities and extensive house-to-house inquiries.'

Police have urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

'Motorists with dash-cam who may have been near the area, as well as businesses and residents with doorbell cameras or CCTV, are also asked to check for any important footage.'
