This is the horrifying moment an 64-year-old man was gored in the scrotum at a traditional bull running event in Spain

The bull had just been released from its pen when it charged towards the man at breakneck speed.

Before the man had a chance to react, the bull picked him up with one of its horns from the other side of a metal barrier.

The man was then held in the air for several seconds before the bull dumped him on the ground in front of shocked onlookers.

The victim, identified only as F.M.N, suffered entry and exit wounds around his groin area and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The horror unfolded on Monday in La Vall d’Uixó, north-east of Valencia, during a traditional bull running event.

An onsite medical team, as well as two doctors who were there as spectators, gave the man first aid.

He was conscious when he was taken to a hospital in nearby Villarreal and will undergo surgery, local media has reported.

The incident follows the death of a 57-year-old man in hospital in May, seven weeks after he was gored twice during a bullfight in Vall d'Uixó.

A 20-year-old man was also killed during a bull-running festival in El Casar in the province of Castilla-La Mancha earlier this month.

The unnamed victim suffered a punctured lung when the animal ran at him and drove its horn into his chest.

It involves running in front of a small group of bulls, typically six, but sometimes ten or more, that have been let loose on sectioned-off streets in a town.
