Grandmother, 59, died in crash when Mercedes collided with box van

 A grandmother has died in a car crash that also killed four horses when a Mercedes collided with a box van.

Lesley McTear, 59, was a passenger in the Mercedes when the crash occurred on the A737, near the Scottish village of Howwood in Renfrewshire, at 3.10am on Monday September 23.

Police and Ambulance attended at the scene where Ms McTear was sadly pronounced dead. 

Four horses also died in the crash and there were reports that six other horses were spotted running loose on the road.

Ms McTear's family have paid tribute to her describing the grandmother as 'the glue that kept us together.

They said: 'Lesley was a loving wife, mother, grandma and daughter-in-law. As a family, we are deeply saddened by the events that have caused such a void in our family.

'Lesley was the glue that kept us all together and anyone who was lucky enough to know Lesley was showered by her unconditional love.'

Sergeant Jack Swindells said: 'Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died and everyone involved.

'Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can assist with our investigation who has not already spoken to officers is asked to get in touch.'
