Moment armed police swarm car and arrest woman in leafy street
by ANDY DOLAN · Mail OnlineThis is the moment armed police swooped to arrest a woman at the wheel of a car in a cathedral city today.
The woman was seen emerging from the Peugeot 206 with her hands on her head after the car was boxed in by two unmarked police cars, assisted by a third liveried SUV, on Boultham Park Road in Lincoln this afternoon.
Video from an adjacent property's CCTV system which was posted on Facebook showed armed officers running to surround the vehicle.
A second clip filmed from the rear of the incident showed six officers pointing their weapons at the Peugeot on the main road in the Boultham suburb.
Armed officers were also seen at an address at nearby St Helen's Avenue, where the suspect is believed to live.
It is understood officers were responding to a report of a person in possession of firearms or explosive devices.
Sarah Fotheringham saw the drama unfold after she came home from work to make a sandwich for lunch.
The 54-year-old cleaner said: 'There were lots of police outside – with some at each end of the incident to block off the road.
'After the first three cars came a police van arrived and they took her away quite quickly in that. Then a dog unit arrived and a sniffer dog examined the car before they searched the boot.
'I saw police take some items out and take them away. It was all quite a drama.'
The incident came hours after 37-year-old Max Skidmore appeared before the city's magistrates charged with manslaughter over the death of 55-year-old Eddie Roberts on the other side of Lincoln.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman confirmed the two incidents were not related.
He said: 'A 38-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of a firearms offence after police officers executed a warrant in Lincoln.
'Armed personnel were deployed to an address at St Helen's Avenue this afternoon and will remain at the scene while enquiries take place at the property.
'The woman has been taken into police custody.
'We are aware of pictures and videos circulating online and we would ask people to refrain from speculation at this stage.
'This is an ongoing, active investigation and maintaining the integrity of that investigation is crucial.
'We will provide more information when we can.'
