Harry Redknapp submits new plans for villa after demolishing £7m home

It is his spectacular dream home mansion in the Grand Designs style - but midway through building it Harry Redknapp has had even grander designs. 

But the couple have belatedly decided they want to swap the two middle doors and make one massive and stunning entrance on to their sun terrace overlooking the sea.

The extra wide doors will also vastly improve their views from the open plan kitchen/dining/living area.

These views will take in Brownsea Island, which is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

And they are so confident that local planners will rubber stamp the proposed alterations that it appears they have already built the 15ft wide archway for the double doors.

The latest photos of the project show the three-storey villa is quickly taking shape.

The shell and the roof of the mansion have been built with the huge gaps in the walls left for the windows and doors.

The back garden is also being formed with the outline of concrete steps leading down to the harbour's edge. The rectangular building that will be a boathouse has also been constructed.

When it is complete the luxury villa will have a grand entrance hall, a huge open-plan living/kitchen/dining room, two reception rooms, a study, boot room and five en suite bedrooms.

There will also be a double garage at the front which will have room for a gymnasium.

The white-rendering to the external walls will be in keeping with properties around Lake Como as will the Palladian-style columns and four separate balconies with black wrought iron railings.

It is estimated the mansion will be worth about £12m when complete.

The former Tottenham and West Ham manager and his wife paid £7m for a 60-year-old traditional house that stood on the plot of land over a year ago.

They secured planning permission to demolish it and quickly set about hiring builders to oversee the grand design.

At the time a nextdoor neighbour objected to the new villa on the grounds that it would be too 'overpowering' and would feel 'oppressive'.

They also had concerns for the impact the ground floor and first floor windows of the villa might have on their privacy.

But it seems neighbours have no concerns about the adaptation to the existing plans.

One told us: 'The Redknapps are very popular here. The proposals to increase the window size would only be visible from the water and look good anyway so we don't anticipate there will be any objectiosn.'
