Moment Asda 'security guard punches and slaps customer'
by Ryan Prosser · Mail OnlineA shocking video has captured the moment a customer was punched by security in an Asda store.
The clip, filmed in Asda in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, shows what appears to be a male customer with his small black dog on a lead being pinned against shelves by two male security guards on either side of him.
A third member of staff, dressed in black uniform, is shown standing in front of the customer before punching him hard in the face before backing away.
The same guard then appears to move back to the restrained customer to slap him in the face, knocking a shelf label to the floor in the process.
All three security staff then lead the customer out of the store before the clip ends, as one shouts: 'Get out'.
The video, which was posted on X, has been viewed over 90,000 times.
A spokesman for Staffordshire police said the incident hadn't been reported to them.
They added: 'The local policing team will follow it up with ASDA to understand more about what's happened.'
Shocked viewers reacted to the video.
Peter Karis said: 'Too bad, he's very likely getting the sack for that.'
Another person said: 'Unfortunately the security guard may struggle to justify that use of force, as much as I sympathise, there are better ways of achieving the goal.'
Meanwhile another person had some sympathy with the security staff, adding: 'Nowt wrong with a bit of education.'
A third commenter added: 'Thank you for defending the multi-million dollar company.
'Someone has to stand up for them.'
A spokesperson for ASDA said: 'We are aware of a video that was recorded in our Fenton store yesterday. As this incident is being investigated, we are unable to provide any further comment.'
