Shoplifters in court who have been banned from stores across the North East

These are the faces of six shoplifters who have been slapped with Criminal Behaviour Orders in North East courts in recent months

by · ChronicleLive

These are the faces of six nuisance shoplifters who have all been seen before North East courts recently.

All six have received Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) banning them from shops in their local area, or in some cases particular chains across the entire country.

One offender is even banned from all retail premises in the country - save for one supermarket, one pharmacy and one clothing retailer - due to her prolific offending, some of which she conducted in disguise.

Other offenders include a prolific shoplifter who branched out to an out-of-town retail park after being banned from her local town centre, a persistent shoplifter who stole hundreds of pounds worth of goods over a week-long Walker spree, and a supermarket thief who is now banned from every Sainsbury's in the country.

Here are the shoplifters who have been given bans from North East retail premises near you.

Gemma Rowell

Prolific shoplifter Gemma Rowell was made was made subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), in November last year preventing her from entering stores in Wallsend town centre, Battle Hill, and Middle Engine Lane.
Rowell had clocked up more than 33 offences, including 22 for theft, in those areas. However, the move failed to stop brazen thief Rowell, who was given a suspended sentence in June this year after being convicted of shop theft.
Even that hasn't stopped her, and Rowell was back in the dock once more on September 25, where she pleaded guilty to stealing £70 worth of toiletries from Next at the Silverlink.
Rowell, of Broxburn Close in Wallsend, who was 35 at her most recent sentencing, was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £70 in compensation.(Image: Northumbria Police)

Tanya Liddle

Prolific shoplifter Tanya Liddle has been banned from shops across the North East after wearing disguises when targeting stores.
Nuisance offender Liddle has been arrested almost 400 times over several decades. Over the years, the 43-year-old has racked up 171 convictions, the vast majority of which are for shoplifting.
Among her latest offences was a theft on April 24, when she went into TK Maxx at Westmorland Retail Park in Cramlington and took £1,500-worth of bags without paying.
Due to her prolific offending, officers with Newcastle North West Neighbourhood Policing Team, based at Westgate Road, applied for a civil injunction against Liddle, which was granted at Newcastle Civil Court in September.
It is the strictest order of its kind ever issued in the Northumbria Police force area, and means that Liddle will now be prevented from entering any retail premises in the region; with the exception of one pharmacy, one supermarket, and one clothing retailer. Should Liddle ignore the terms and conditions of her order, she faces arrest and a possible jail term.(Image: Northumbria Police)

Kieran Scott

Persistent shoplifter Kieran Scott has been banned from setting foot in Newcastle shopping park and other stores in his local area after a shoplifting spree.
Scott, 27 when sentenced, stole more than £180-worth of washing tablets, 12 joints of meat, and five bottles of gin, amongst other items. He was found to have carried out six separate thefts in April alone in Walker.
On April 9, Scott took £100-worth of goods from TK Maxx on the retail park without paying, before stealing 12 joints of meat from Aldi on Walker Road after leaving the premises via a fire exit. He then stole £60-worth of meat from Lidl on Shields Road on April 12 and in the process, caused £3,000-worth of damage to a fire exit when leaving the store.
On the same day, he helped himself to five bottles of gin from Home Bargains on Fossway before fleeing the scene. His spree continued as he stole more than £180-worth of washing tablets from Poundland on April 15, before returning to Poundland three days later, where he picked up two handbags and two perfumes and leaving without paying.
Scott, of Welbeck Road, was arrested and charged with six counts of theft and one count of criminal damage. He pleaded guilty to all the charges against him at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Friday, June 7.
He was made subject to a two-year Community Behaviour Order on Wednesday, June 12, which prohibits him from entering any of the stores on Newcastle Shopping Park, as well as Lidl on Shields Road, Aldi on Walker Road, and Heron shops on Welbeck Road and Church Walk. Scott, who has numerous previous convictions for theft, was also ordered to pay a combined total of £1,600 in compensation to the businesses he stole from and caused damage to.(Image: Northumbria Police)
