by · ChronicleLive

Three suspected drug-traffickers have been arrested following a series of police raids in County Durham.

Durham Constabulary executed two drug warrants in the Ferryhill area last week and arrested three people. Suspected cocaine and cash were also seized in the raids.

One man and two women were arrested on suspicion of trafficking drugs and possessing an offensive weapon. They have been released under investigation as inquiries continue.

A statement from Spennymoor and Ferryhill Police said: "The joint operation – between Ferryhill and Spennymoor Neighbourhood Policing Teams, response officers and police dogs – saw suspected drugs including cocaine, hundreds of pounds in cash and several mobile phones seized. Three suspects, one man in his 20s and two women in their 30s and 40s were arrested at the scene on suspicion of trafficking in controlled drugs and possessing an offensive weapon. They have since been released under investigation whilst an investigation continues."
