Man charged with attempted murder over alleged blade attack near Manors Metro station

A man is today appearing in court accused of attempted murder after an alleged blade attack near a city Metro station.

The alleged victim, suffered serious injuries to his face, neck and chest in the incident, which happened on New Bridge Street in Newcastle City Centre, close to Manors Metro Station.

The injured man, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital after emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.45pm on Wednesday, October 23. He was later discharged.

Scott Orr, 50, of Westbourne Avenue in Walker, Newcastle, has now been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday). Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Officers investigating the assault remain keen to hear from any witnesses who were in the New Bridge Street area at the time of the incident, as well as those who may have dashcam footage from their vehicles."
