One arrested on suspicion of affray after reports of man 'acting suspiciously' on Newcastle housing estate

A man was reported to have been "acting suspiciously" on the Kenton Bar estate this afternoon

A man has been arrested on suspicion of affray on a Newcastle housing estate.

Just before 2pm on Monday, police were called to the Kenton Bar Estate after a man was reported to have been acting suspiciously.

He was detained by police in the area of Ryal Walk, and remains in custody as police continue enquiries.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Just before 2pm today (Monday), we received a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Kenton Bar area of Newcastle.

"Officers attended and located a 49-year-old man matching the description near to Ryal Walk. He was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody while enquiries are ongoing."
