Woman assaulted by man who asked to use her mobile phone in Tynemouth

The alleged assault occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 22, by the Queen Victoria Monument in Tynemouth

A woman ended up in hospital after she was assaulted by a man who asked to use her mobile phone.

At around 1am on Sunday, September 22, it was reported that an unknown male assaulted a woman after asking to use her mobile phone by the Queen Victoria Monument on Huntingdon Place in Tynemouth. The victim sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

The offender is described as around 5'4 in height. Officers from Northumbria Police have launched a full investigation and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
