Police are investigating a report of an unprovoked attack in a pub which left a man with serious injuries, including a broken jaw.

Officers have received a report that a man launched an unprovoked attack on another male at Whickham House Pub on Bensham Road, Gateshead, by punching him to the side of the face. The attack is said to have taken place at around 10.30pm on Saturday August 24.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment of a broken jaw. He has since been released.

A number of enquiries have been carried out by officers since the report was first received to locate the offender. And today (Friday), officers have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the report.

The man was in the area at the time of the incident and officers believe he could have information which could assist their enquiries.
