Police launch rape investigation after woman attacked in South Tyneside

Officers are investigating a report that a woman was raped in South Tyneside.

Police received a report that a woman in her 20s had made plans to meet up with a man in the Tyne Dock area on the evening of Saturday, December 30, 2023. They say he has then proceeded to rape her near to Boldon Lane before leaving the area.

Northumbria Police launched an investigation and specially-trained officers continue to support the victim. Extensive enquiries have been carried out by officers since the report was first made, including a recent review of CCTV footage.

Police have now identified a man they would like to speak to.
