Wayne Rooney breaks silence on wife Coleen's I'm A Celeb stint and drops bombshell
by Tom Bryant · ChronicleLiveFormer football star Wayne Rooney has opened up about his thoughts on wife Coleen's stint in the jungle on 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! saying he wouldn't mind taking on the challenge himself. During an appearance on the ITV spin-off show, he shared that while their kids missed Coleen, they were incredibly proud of her.
He also mentioned his plans to pen a poem for her return, after she disclosed to her campmates that he had a knack for poetry. When quizzed about participating in the reality show, Rooney said: "Maybe, if I'm not working, I would like to do it. But at the minute, obviously, that's not possible."
He expressed how much he missed Coleen, noting it was the longest period they'd been apart since childhood.
"I think it's the longest, you know, I've been without speaking to her since we were kids," he remarked. With Coleen away and Wayne currently based in Plymouth due to work commitments, he praised the support system in place for their children, reports the Mirror.

"And for the children, obviously it's difficult not being able to speak to the mum. But Coleen's parents are helping out obviously, while I'm over in Plymouth living there at the minute with my work. There's a good team looking after the kids and making sure everything is done. And so, we're missing her, but we're enjoying watching as well."
He also said he has been voting for Coleen to face the trials and looked forward to seeing her tackle them, saying, "Yes I would love for her to do a trial. It's all part of the experience, and I think she'd be great as well."
He also revealed to ITV host Joel Dommett that he's got a special poem ready for her return. "I've always liked doing and writing poems and expressing my feelings in a different way as well. And yeah, so there'll be one waiting for her for sure," he shared.
Wayne expressed his admiration for how Coleen is handling life in the jungle: "It's strange to be honest seeing her out there in the jungle, but I think she's doing a great job. I think she's showing everyone her personality, character, and I'm really enjoying the show. So yes, it's strange, but she's doing us all proud."
When asked if he was happy that viewers were getting to see the 'real' Coleen, Wayne responded positively, highlighting her caring nature and her role as a bridge between the younger and older campmates: "She's a nice person, a warm person and a very caring person. And I think that's coming across, you know, I think she's probably in the middle of the older ones and the young ones, so she's probably bridging that gap little bit. But I think she's absolutely shown her personality, character, and I think that's coming across strong. So, it's great to see it in there and see her settling in as well over the last few days."
He also mentioned that watching the show is an annual tradition for them, and participating in it was something they had considered together: "I think Celebrity is the best one. And the one which we always said, if we were ever going to do one, that's the one we do. And obviously Coleen's gone out there to test herself."
