Man remains in hospital after Ashington knife 'attack' with 14-year-old boy in court
by Daniel Hall · ChronicleLiveA man in his 70s who was the alleged victim of a knife attack in Ashington remains in hospital while a 14-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with causing GBH.
Emergency services were called to Alexandra Road shortly before 7am on Friday morning. A man in his 70s and a woman had suffered injuries consistent with having been caused by a blade.
The man remains in hospital four days later for treatment and is in a stable condition. The woman has been discharged.
A 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, entered no plea to two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Saturday. He will appear at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court in North Shields on December 4.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "With charges now live, we would urge the public not to speculate about the incident both online and in the community."
