Jealous lout smashed Newcastle hotel room window because he thought partner was cheating inside
by Sara Nichol · ChronicleLiveA jealous yob smashed a hotel room window because he wrongly believed his partner was cheating with a man inside.
Tyler Davison threw rocks at the window of a first floor room at easyHotel, in Newcastle City Centre, while a random resident, who was not his girlfriend, was asleep inside. The noise woke the male up and, upon looking out the window, he saw Davidson hurling the rocks and shouting, a court heard.
The police were called and the homeless 23-year-old was arrested but claimed in interview that he thought his partner was in the room. Davison, formerly of North Shields and Gateshead, but now of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.
Clare Irving, prosecuting, said a resident at the hotel was woken up at 5.45am on October 27 this year after hearing a noise outside. Ms Irving continued: "The man looked out the window.
"The defendant began shouting very loudly in his direction. He then started to throw small rocks at the window, causing it to crack. The estimated cost of the damage caused is £501."
The court heard that Davison had a number of past convictions but had managed to stay out of trouble since 2021. Mark Harrison, defending, said: "Mr Davison is street homeless.
"He had heard that his girlfriend had gone to a room at that hotel with another male. He believed she was cheating. He admits that a rock was thrown to get their attention."
Davison was fined £50 and ordered to pay £200 compensation.
