Most popular baby name trends for 2025 as 'elderly' monikers are ditched
The experts at Nameberry have released their list of baby name trends for 2025 - sharing the monikers you might be hearing in the school playground in the years to come
by Sophie Barley, Paige Freshwater · ChronicleLiveChoosing a baby name is a significant decision for parents, often involving much deliberation. To aid in this process, Nameberry's experts have unveiled their 2025 baby name trends, highlighting names that may become popular in the future.
According to their predictions, 'actual baby names' will regain popularity, replacing 'elderly' names like Edith, Dorothy, Arthur, and Charles. Nameberry states: "If the past few years have emphasized "you're naming an adult, not a baby", 2025 will embrace the inverse. Some of the trendiest baby names are clearly meant for babies."
Influenced by notable influencer babies, such as Nara Smith's Whimsy Lou, Jaci Marie Smith's daughter Benny, and Savannah LaBrant's son Blue, parents are opting for nicknames on birth certificates and playful, modern choices.
Rhythm plays a crucial role, with many names paired with single-syllable middle names for a sing-songy effect, as seen in recent celebrity baby names like Rio Rose, Klarity Doll, and Aero Lore.
Nameberry's top 30 baby name predictions for 2025 are:

Another added, "It literally means that it just feels right. When you look at the baby and imagine yourself calling them by that name and it just doesn't seem to fit then it's just not the right name for them. It's just a gut feeling sort of thing."
Lastly, a third commented, "We picked three for each child, didn't tell anyone, then decided after they were born and we saw their face to see which name fit them."
