One teenager left a man with life-threatening injuries by stabbing him in the stomach in Newcastle city centre. The incident happened after the victim said their loud behaviour was upsetting his dog.
While another man who had been a victim of a theft downed 30 bottles of beer, took a cocktail of drugs, armed himself with a knife and a hammer and targeted 15 victims in one night of terror which left a trail of trauma and caused a teenage girl to try to take her own life.
In a third incident, a man was jailed for six years after he struck an officer in the leg with a knife.
Joseph Gray
Joseph Gray had been drinking when he gathered near the Civic Centre to socialise with others. The victim said their loud behaviour was upsetting his dog and approached the teen, who mocked the way he spoke.
Newcastle Crown Court witnesses said the man uttered a threat and Gray then took out a small pocket knife which he had been carrying routinely and plunged it into his stomach. The victim suffered heavy internal bleeding, collapsed, needed emergency surgery and his injury has had a huge impact on his life.
Gray, 19, of Brierdene Crescent, Whitley Bay, was cleared of wounding with intent by a jury but admitted unlawful wounding and possessing an offensive weapon. He was sent to a young offenders institution for 21 months.

Robert Wardle
Wardle had a scarf over his mouth and his hood up when a taxi picked him up on Charlotte Street in Wallsend. The driver was asked to take them to the cashpoint of a bank on Wallsend High Street before taking them back to Charlotte Street.
But when they got there, the second man pulled out a knife, reached around the driver's seat and held the blade to his throat. The victim tried to grab it before getting out of the car and running away.
The robbers initially chased after him but then went back to the taxi and drove it away. The car was later found a few streets away but they had stolen his wallet, containing £600 and bank cards, his dashcam, house keys and keys to another vehicle.
Wardle, 32, of High Street East, Wallsend, who has 34 previous convictions, was convicted of robbery after a trial earlier this year. While the jury were out, he absconded from court and was on the run for two months and ten days.
During that time, he burgled Heron Foods, in Newbiggin Hall, stealing alcohol and vapes worth £530. He pleaded guilty to burglary and absconding.
He was jailed for a total of ten years and ten weeks, with an extended licence period of a further two years.
