Perverted Killingworth grandad, 76, sexually assaulted woman twice in a month

William White, 76, kissed the unsuspecting woman on the lips and forced his tongue into her mouth, leaving her feeling "violated, sick and traumatised". A court heard that, despite her pushing him off and running away, the brazen grandad White didn't curb his disgusting behaviour and targeted her again a month later.
This time, the married pervert, who has three children and five grandchildren, approached her when she was on her her own and grabbed her hand and placed it over the groin area of his trousers, prosecutors said. On this occasion, the horrified victim told people what had happened and she was persuaded to go to the police.
Retired engineer White, of Garth Twenty, in Killingworth, was arrested and pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault at Newcastle Magistrates' Court. Giving him a 12-month community order, District Judge Paul Currer said White had treated the victim with the most "appalling contempt".
He said: "Let me make it clear, you are a sexual offender. In passing this sentence, I'm completely satisfied that this whole process will have a dramatic affect upon you, your life and your family's life.
"I'm satisfied you can be safely managed in the community and the risk you pose to others is low and can be managed by this order."
The court heard that White carried out the assaults in September and October last year. Speaking of the first incident, prosecutor, Paul Anderson, said: "He kissed her forcibly and forced his tongue in her mouth. The complainant did not give him permission to do this. She describes feeling sick and violated."
Mr Anderson said, about a month later, White approached the victim again, this time telling her he didn't regret what he had done before grabbing her hand and placing it on the crotch area of his trousers. In a statement, the woman said: "I'm not sleeping properly and I now don't like people coming to close.
"Although I have always been friendly, I still feel very upset about this and I feel traumatised."
Matthew Purves, defending, said White had led a "blameless" life, working as an engineer for 40 years and raising a family. Mr Purves added: "This defendant will continue to be embarrassed by this whole process.
"He's let down his wife by being here. She continues to support him after a significantly lengthy relationship. It's brought a consequence on their lives."
District Judge Currer also ordered White to pay the victim £600 compensation and he must sign the Sex Offenders' Register for five years.
