Fortnite developer Epic Games announced the scheduled maintenance as part of the launch of Chapter 2 Remix. According to a post on X, formerly Twitter, Fortnite server downtime was starting at 2am ET - 6am UK time on Saturday, November 2.
According to an estimated maintenance schedule on the Epic Games server status website, downtime was expected to run between 6am and 1pm. And there have been a number of reports of Fortnite outages on Downdetector.
On Friday night, Downdetector data showed 220 reports of outages just after 10pm. And people started making further reports on Saturday morning. There were 262 reports of Fortnite outages at around 9am, climbing to 342 at 9.38am.
The majority of users, 73%, reported issues with the server connection. Around 16% reported problems with game play and 11% had issues with login.
In terms of what to expect from Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix, the team says: "The Island you knew is back, remixed and reimagined, with weekly location and loot drops inspired by the best of early Chapter 2 gameplay and some of the greatest music icons in history. In this time rewind, Snoop D-O-double-G heads up the Agency, the rap god Eminem sets up shop in the Grotto, hip hop princess Ice Spice lays claim to Shark Island, and the remix hits the finale with a celebration and tribute to the legend and icon, Juice WRLD. Push play, turn up the volume, and open up the vault in Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 2 Remix."
Fortnite players are urged to keep checking for latest updates to see when downtime is likely to end.
