Boy, 12, injured after being shot in face with BB gun in South Tyneside
by David Huntley · ChronicleLiveA police investigation has been launched after a boy was shot in the face with a BB gun in South Tyneside.
Officers were called to an area of Hebburn on Friday evening after a 12-year-old boy sustained injuries to his eye after being shot. The shooting took place shortly before 6pm on St James Mall.
An investigation into the assault has since been launched. Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We received a report of assault which took place sometime between 5.40pm and 5.50pm on Friday on St James Mall, in Hebburn. It was reported that the victim, a 12-year-old boy, was approached by a boy on a bicycle who then fired what was believed to be a BB gun at his face. The victim sustained redness and swelling to one of his eyes in the incident."
