Beloved Benton Pharmacy community figure to retire after 24 years of dedicated service
by Emily Gray · ChronicleLiveAfter an incredible 24 years of dedicated service, Jane Sams, a beloved figure at Parkside Pharmacy in Benton is set to retire at the end of this month.
Jane’s journey in pharmacy began when she was just 16 years old, and she still fondly remembers her very first day on the job. In 2000, she joined Lloyds Pharmacy, quickly becoming an integral part of the team and passing her MCA qualification in 2001.
When the business transitioned to Parkside Pharmacy, Jane remained a constant presence, bringing warmth, kindness, and dedication to every customer interaction.
A true people person, Jane chose not to progress to become a dispenser, as she valued the face-to-face contact with customers too much. Her love of helping people and her passion for community care have made her an irreplaceable part of the pharmacy and a cherished figure within the local area.
Reflecting on her career, Jane said: "There’s no single highlight that stands out because I’ve genuinely enjoyed every day.
"Meeting all the lovely customers and being part of their lives has been the most rewarding experience. I've always loved helping people, and I'll miss the connections I've made."
In addition to marking her incredible career, Parkside Pharmacy is thrilled to honour Jane on her birthday, Friday, November 29 2024. Customers, friends, and family are invited to stop by the pharmacy to celebrate, share their well-wishes, memories, and thanks for Jane’s years of service.
"Jane’s dedication and warmth have made her the heart and soul of Parkside Pharmacy," explained Shammi Nair, Pharmacy Owner. "She has been a trusted friend and advisor to so many in the community. We’ll miss her greatly, but we’re so excited for her as she begins this next chapter of her life."
Shammi added: "Let’s make her last few working days as special as the impact she’s had on the community and show her how much she means to us all!" Over the past 24 years, Jane’s commitment to providing excellent care has touched countless lives in her career dedicated to the community.
She has always prioritised helping others and making every customer feel valued and cared for. Jane’s legacy is not in any single moment but in the trust, smiles, and gratitude of the people she has served day in and day out.
Parkside Pharmacy invites everyone to drop by on Friday, November 29, to celebrate Jane’s career and wish her the very best in retirement.
