Louise Duffy and her husband Paul Galvin tend to keep their work and home lives separate.

Louise fronts Radio 1's easy listening daily music show on RTÉ and Paul has a fashion range with Dunnes Stores after retiring from intercounty football with Kerry.

The couple, who got married in 2015, have a shared understanding of their jobs in the public eye.

Louise said: “He does his thing and I do mine.

“Fashion is his domain. He’ll sometimes send me songs to put on air, but that’s about as involved as he gets in my work.”

The RTÉ star told The Sunday Times: “We know the flexibility and the hustle required to succeed.

“There’s always an ambiguity around the industries of fashion and media. It’s what drives you, but it’s also something that not everyone understands or appreciates.”

Louise praised Paul and explained why their romance works so well.

She said: “Paul is a very kind guy and he’s a great man on a date. On our first few dates we laughed from start to finish and realised we had a lot in common.”

Louise and Paul are parents to two daughters, Esmé, who is six, and three-year-old Elin, and with their lines of work in media and fashion, it can be hard to get the balance right.

She said: “There’s always a little bit of juggling and liaising throughout the day. Paul and I work in industries where no two days are the same.

"But we’re lucky to have a good balance in terms of drop-offs and that kind of thing.”

The Radio 1 favourite turned 40 this year and had a lovely party to mark the special occasion.

She said: “It’s a gift. I’ve no problem with turning 40.

“I wasn’t actually going to have a party and then I thought, why not celebrate these happy moments? They’re what life is all about.”
