Thousands of people in line for the October cost of living boost announced by the government in Budget 2025 will be paid early later this month.

The boost, which will be a double rate of your usual payment, is set to be paid during the week of the 28th of October.

However, with the 28th being a bank holiday Monday, anyone due to get paid on the Monday will receive their payment early.

Anyone expecting a social welfare payment on the 28th will most likely be paid early. It is expected that you will see your payment land in your account on Friday the 25th or Saturday the 26th of October.

It can be easy to forget a schedule change so be sure to keep it in mind. The Department of Social Protection are expected to make a formal statement warning recipients of the schedule change in the days leading up to the Bank Holiday weekend.

The change won't affect anyone in receipt of Child Benefit, as that is due to be paid the following week on the 5th of November. The November Child Benefit will be double rate, as will the December payment.

The rest of the cost of living bonuses, as announced in Budget 2025, are:

  • A €400 Disability Support Payment will be paid next month to people with disabilities.
  • Also secured as part of the Budget was a €300 Fuel Allowance Lump Sum Payment. This will be paid on the week commencing 4th November to over 387,000 households .
  • During the same week, a €400 lump sum Working Family Payment will be paid to 46,000 households.
  • There will also be a €200 lump sum payment to the almost 254,000 people in receipt of the Living Alone Allowance in November.
  • There will be a €100 child support payment - formerly known as ‘Qualified Child’ - on the week commencing 25th November. That will support 340,000 children.
  • A €400 Carer’s Support Payment will be provided to the country’s carers during the week commencing 11th November.
  • A Christmas Bonus Double Payment will be paid on the week commencing December 2nd.
