Stabbing suspect named after violence breaks out in Torquay town centre
by Shania King-Soyza · DevonLiveA suspect has been named after a man was stabbed in Torquay town centre. Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the reported stabbing in Castle Circus at 12.20pm yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, November 26.
A large cordon was put in place after the violent incident, closing Tor Hill Road in both directions. The victim was taken to hospital, but their injuries are not being treated as life-threatening or life-changing.
James Adam, aged 49, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of a controlled Class A drug and assaulting an emergency service worker. He is due to appear in court this morning, Wednesday, November 27.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset police shared: "Injuries are not being treated as life-threatening or changing. James Adam, aged 49, of Factory Row, Torquay, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of a controlled Class A drug and assaulting an emergency service worker.
"He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court this morning, 27 November."
