Three knifed as street fight breaks out in Newton Abbot

Three men suffered knife injuries during a street fight which broke out in Newton Abbot. One of the men was rushed to hospital with a stab wound while two other men sustained slash-type injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police was called to the fight in Market Street at 2.15am yesterday morning (Sunday, October 13).

Police said a man in his 30s sustained a stab wound which is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Meanwhile, two men, aged in their 30s and 50s, suffered slash-type wounds which are not thought to be serious.

A 24-year-old man from Teignmouth was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent and wounding without intent. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Investigating officers are now appealing to the public for information. They are urging witnesses to come forward.
