Police want to speak to this man after £1,400 theft from Torbay hospital

An e-bike was stolen while its owner attended an appointment

An investigation has been launched after an electric bike was stolen from a hospital in Devon. The e-cycle, worth £1,400, was stolen from Torbay Hospital, in Torquay, while its owner attended a hospital appointment.

Devon and Cornwall Police say the theft took place at around 2.30pm and 3pm on Monday, September 9. The owner of the bike was at a hospital appointment during the theft, and it was his only mode on transport, police said.

The force has now released a picture of a man officers wish to speak to in connection with the theft.

Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement: "Police investigating a report of theft in Torquay have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident. It is reported to have happened at Torbay Hospital, Newton Road, Torquay, between 2.30pm and 3pm on Monday 9 September.

"It was reported that an e-cycle valued at around £1,400 was taken while its owner attended a hospital appointment and was his only means of transport.

"Police investigating the incident would like to identify the man pictured as they believe he may be able to assist with their enquiries. Call police with information on 101, or via our website here, quoting reference number 50240228814."
