Devon court list: Shoplifting pest who stole 20 packs of bacon jailed

Devon's latest court list has been released

A man who attempted to engage in sex chat with a child and a defendant who went on a massive shoplifting spree are among the men and women who have recently appeared at the magistrates' courts in Devon. Also stood in the dock were drink drivers, drug drivers and motorists who got behind the wheel while disqualified.

The people in this list all appeared at courts in Exeter, Newton Abbot and Barnstaple. Magistrates can jail a person for up to 12 months but most defendants are dealt with by community orders, fines, of suspended sentences.

OCTOBER 3

Shadi Courtney, Tennyson Avenue, Exeter. Age: 41. Between 13-14/02/2023 at Exeter, adult attempted to engage in sexual communication with a child. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 18 months. Alcohol treatment. Rehabilitation requirement for up to 15 days. Sign sex offender register for five years.

Ryan Barnes, Hill Top Road, Exeter. Age: 34. On 11/04/2024 at Exminster drug driving on Sannerville Way. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 12 months. Fine £392.

James Land, NFA, Tiverton. Age: 39. On 12/04/2024 at Exeter drug driving on Old Tiverton Road. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 12 months. Rehabilitation up to five days. Disqualified for 17 months. Fine £392.

Christopher Smith, Leeward Lane, Torquay. Age: 42. On 16/04/2024 at M5 drug driving. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 12 months. Fine £276.

Mark Cooper, Road from Windy Cross, Ashford. Age: 36. On 08/08/2024 at Heanton Court Hotel, Braunton, drove whilst disqualified and fail to provide a specimen. Plea: Guilty. Prison for 24 weeks. Disqualified for 43 months.

Matthew Allen, Littleham Road, Exmouth. Age: 35. On 18/09/2024 at Tesco Express, Exmouth, stole food and wine. Plea: Guilty. Fine £128. Compensation £25.

Fletcher Freeman, Lime Kiln Road, Tiverton. Age: 29. On 09/09/2022 at Tiverton assaulted an emergency worker by beating. Used threatening words or behaviour with intent and the offence was racially aggravated. Plea: Guilty. 52 weeks suspended for 18 months. Rehabilitation requirement for 25 days. Unpaid work 240 hours. Compensation £400.

Thomas Pancherz, Templeton, Tiverton. Age: 29. On 09/09/2022 at Tiverton assaulted two emergency workers by beating. Plea: Guilty. Custody for 48 weeks suspended for 18 months. Abstain from alcohol for 120 days. Unpaid work 220 hours. Compensation £400

OCTOBER 4

Owen Conway, Churchill Crescent, South Molton. Age: 20. On 15/09/2024 at Barnstaple Street, South Molton, drove when alcohol level above the limit. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 15 months. Fine £660.

William Flynn, Oxford Grove, Ilfracombe. Age: 66. On 24/04/2024 at Ilfracombe seafront failed to comply with a community protection notice. Plea: Guilty. Criminal behaviour order for two tears. Must not act in a manner likely to cause anti-social harassment.

Romain Guillemer, NFA Torquay. Age: 34. On 09/06/2024 at Sainsbury’s Paignton stole 20 packs of bacon. Also multiple shoplifting offences at Tesco, Poundland, Aldi and Co-op. Also assaulted emergency workers. Plea: Guilty. 18 weeks in prison.

OCTOBER 7

Stuart Darby, Town Hill, Broadclyst. Age: 42. On 05/05/024 at A380 Kingsteignton driver when alcohol above the legal limit and while disqualified. Plea: Guilty. Eight weeks suspended for 12 months. Disqualified for 12 months.

OCTOBER 8

Alexander Cowlishaw, Primley Park East, Paignton. Age: 33. On 21/09/2024 at Primley Park East, Paignton drove when alcohol above the limit. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 18 months. Fine £576.

Neil Critcher, Springfield Road, Exmouth. Age: 44. On 23/09/2024 at Temple Street, Sidmouth, drink driving. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 14 months. Fine £507.

Shahid Khan, Roman Way, Seaton. Age: 24. On 23/09/2024 at Bovemoors Lane, Exeter, used threatening, abusive words or behaviour. Plea: Guilty. Conditional discharge for 12 months.

Martin Perry, Nina Carroll Way, Kettering. Age: 42. On 29/07/2024 at Kings Arms, Bideford, assaulted a female by beating. Also assaulted a male and resisted constable. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 12 months. Unpaid work for 100 hours.

Liam Stocks, Whitstone, Holsworthy. Age: 37. On 19/08/2024 at Taw Bridge, Barnstaple, assaulted a police officer by beating. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 12 months. Abstain from alcohol for 120 days. Compensation £200.

Charlie Allard, Elmdale Road, Bideford. Age: 28. On 12/08/2023 at Bideford sent a grossly offensive or indecent message to a female. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 12 months. Unpaid work for 100 hours. Rehabilitation requirement of 20 days.

Luke Kidston, Torrington Street, Bideford. Age: 48. On 20/12/2023 at Bideford drove a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 15 months. Fine £120.

Abbie Squires, Trafalgar Drive, Torrington. Age: 25. On Application for a sexual risk order. Sexual risk order made for two years.

Paul Wilkinson, Barnstaple Street, South Molton. Age: 63. Application for a sexual risk order. Sexual risk order made for five years.
