A sexual predator who abused a young boy for years has been put behind bars. Leslie Retallick, from Queensway in Torquay, pleaded guilty to non-recent sexual abuse of a child for numerous offences committed over a period of nine years.

Appearing at Exeter Crown Court on October 14, the court heard how 73-year-old Retallick encouraged his victim to view pornography before sexually abusing him. To avoid getting caught, Retallick insisted on secrecy.

The abuse continued for many years, taking place between 1999 and 2008. Retallick went to far as to take the boy away on trips where the exposure to pornography continued.

Eventually the victim moved away and Retallick's crimes were unearthed when he was found to have downloaded child abuse material. He was jailed for six years and nine months on Monday, October 14.

Investigating officer DC Jake Woodbridge said: “Leslie Retallick is a sexual predator who for many years preyed on and abused a young boy.

“We are glad justice has finally been done and he is now serving time in prison for his crimes.

“I would like to thank the victim for supporting this prosecution and we will continue to investigate all reports of child sexual abuse, whether the abuse took place recently or in decades gone by.”
