Police have arrested a man following an incident at an Exeter bar earlier this month. A man was taken to hospital in serious condition after being injured.

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning at Coolings bar on Gandy Street. Paramedics called police to the scene at around 2:05am after a man was found to have sustained multiple injuries.

Last week, Devon & Cornwall Police said officers were still working to establish the circumstances of the incident while the man was in a serious condition in hospital.

A spokesperson for Coolings also confirmed that the bar was assisting the police. They said that they were aware that a customer "was unwell and taken for medical treatment" and wished him a "quick recovery".

"The circumstances are under investigation by Devon & Cornwall Police and we are very happily assisting where we can with their enquiries. The investigation team has assured us they will keep us up to date with any developments if necessary."

In an update yesterday (September 24), the force said that the injured man was "recovering well" and had been discharged from hospital. A spokesperson for the force said: "Enquiries are ongoing. The injured man is recovering well and has since been discharged from hospital."

A further update has been provided today (September 25), which confirms that a man from Yeovil has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm without intent.

Devon & Cornwall Police said: "A 40-year-old man from Yeovil has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. He has been released on police bail. Enquiries are ongoing."
