The staff of Curry’s electronics store in Torquay made quite a splash when they kicked off a year of fund-raising events for the Torbay Hospital League of Friends with a dramatic ice bucket challenge.

Brave members of staff Karen Trewern, Ryan Grimes, Josh Randall, John Bailey, Stephanie Leighton, Jamie Troath-Pond and Martin Wei were doused in ice cold water by league volunteers Philip White, Alan White, Mary White, Patricia Roberts, Kathryn Westaway, Roy Tuttle, former MP Kevin Foster and Jordan Wharton, from Currys.

Sales manager Jamie Troath-Pond said: “We’re delighted to start the year off with such a splash. I am delighted to say that the challenge raised £550 towards ground breaking new technology. We are hoping to bring some comfort to those children who will benefit from the paediatric assessment unit at Torbay Hospital”
