Woman in hospital after serious assault in Exeter alleyway
by Shannon Brown · DevonLiveA woman has been taken to hospital after being attacked and badly injured in Exeter. Emergency services were called to Sidwell Street at around 2.50pm today, Tuesday, November 5, after reports that a serious assault had taken place.
A cordon is in place around a alleyway just off Sidwell Street, next to Savers, with police officers standing guard. A eyewitness told DevonLive paramedics and an air ambulance vehicle were also called to the crime scene.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, was taken to hospital following the attack. Devon and Cornwall Police say her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were notified at around 2.50pm on Tuesday 5 November to reports of a serious assault on Sidwell Street in Exeter.
"The victim, a woman in her 30s, was taken to hospital by an ambulance. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
"A cordon has been put in place while officers carry out enquiries into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting 50240280697."
