Get rid of condensation on windows with easy three-step cleaning method
by Samantha Bartlett · DevonLiveThe colder months have arrived, bringing with them the familiar issue of condensation on our windows.
According to EnviroVent, a ventilation company, condensation occurs when warm air meets cold surfaces or when there's excessive humidity in the home.
EnviroVent explains: "When this moisture-packed warm air comes into contact with a chilly surface, it cools down quickly and releases the water, which turns into liquid droplets on the cold surface."

When condensation forms on porous surfaces like plaster walls or wood, the water seeps in, creating damp patches. This can lead to plaster crumbling, wood rotting, and paint and wallpaper peeling away, while also fostering an environment conducive to mould and household pests.
As mould grows, it releases spores into the air, which can be inhaled and cause airway irritation. Inhaling mould spores is known to trigger headaches, breathlessness, and can be particularly harmful to those with weaker immune systems, such as the elderly and young children.
To combat this issue, homeware retailer Wilko partnered with cleaning influencer Lyndsay, known as @norfolkavenue on Instagram, to share a three-step method for getting rid of condensation on their Instagram page.
The first step involved Lyndsay cleaning her windows with a mixture of washing-up liquid and water using a sponge.
In the second step, she utilised a window vac to dry the windows with "minimal effort". The third step in the process involved deploying a dehumidifier to extract moisture from the air.
At the video's conclusion, Lyndsay could be seen giving a thumbs up, indicating her condensation remedies were successful.
Wilko captioned the post, saying: "If you get condensation on your windows, these products are for you! @norfolkavenue shares how to remove excess water from windows (as shown here) mirrors, shower screens and MORE! Making this the ultimate tool to remove condensation from windows AND help prevent mould!"
Additionally, the company is offering customers the opportunity to win the window vacuum featured in the clip.
One viewer enthusiastically commented: "I really need this!" While another confessed: "Our windows are terrible this this!" A A third chimed in: "Ooh I'd love one of these for our rubbish single pane windows."
