Excitement was in the air as the new pump track in Cranbrook was officially unveiled this weekend.

The specially-designed track is built for all levels of bicycle, BMX, scooter riders, roller skaters or skateboarders and is free to use. It provides a thrilling new opportunity for residents of all ages to engage in physical activity, while also promoting a sense of community and fun.

The opening day saw a series of jaw-dropping demonstrations by professional BMX riders, capturing the attention of spectators both young and old. The atmosphere was filled with energy as local children and teens, eager to test the track for the first time, took part in games and competitions, pushing their skills to the limit.

Co-funded through a partnership between Cranbrook Town Council, East Devon District Council and Move More Cranbrook, a Sport England grants’ programme, Cranbrook Pump Track is the latest addition to the town's growing efforts to provide residents with accessible ways to stay active. Cranbrook Pump Track is managed by Cranbrook Town Council.

Cranbrook Town Council shared their enthusiasm for the new facility, Councillor Les Bayliss, Chairman of Cranbrook Town Council, said “This new addition to Cranbrook is a fantastic milestone for the community. Cranbrook Town Council remains committed to making the town a vibrant and enjoyable place for the residents. It's wonderful to see people enjoying the pump track and the other amenities. Once again, special thanks to East Devon District Council and Move More Cranbrook for their funding and support in bringing the incredible pump track to life."

The track, located in the highly acclaimed Cranbrook Country Park, offers a challenging but rewarding ride for everyone, regardless of their skill level. Onlookers were thrilled to watch the excitement unfold, as riders navigated the track’s curves and dips with growing confidence.

Matt Rowett from Move More Cranbrook said: “Watching all ages and abilities circle around the pump track was really exciting. The track not only provides a fun and free activity for the residents of Cranbrook but also aligns with the Move More Cranbrook initiative's goal of helping people incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.

"Move More Cranbrook is committed to enabling people in the town to move more and providing facilities however they choose to do that. It’s not about running marathons, but finding small ways to be more active, every day.”
