Devon play area closed after vandalism attack
by Toby Codd · DevonLiveA play area in Bideford has been closed off after a recent vandalism attack. Police are investigating the vandalism at Victoria Park on Kingsley Road.
The force said they were contacted at around 11am on Tuesday (November 5). Masonry paint was poured down the slide and thrown at other playground equipment.
Investigating officers are now appealing to the public for information on what happened. Torridge District Council has apologised for the inconvenience that the closure may cause local families.
Torridge District Council said in a post on Facebook: "Unfortunately, due to a recent vandalism attack at Victoria Park in Bideford, sections of the play area will now be temporarily closed until further notice. The Police have been notified and CCTV footage is being reviewed.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Please keep an eye on our page for further updates."
Devon and Cornwall Police added: "The incident is believed to have occurred overnight, between the evening of 4 November and the morning of 5 November.
"Officers investigating the incident have asked anyone who may have information about the incident to contact them via the force website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 50240280726."
