Suspected human remains have been found in a field in the West Country. Emergency services were spotted parked up in a quiet cul-de-sac near Lyde Green, in north-east Bristol, on Tuesday (November 5).

A police forensics van and an underwater search unit were called to the scene. Police have confirmed they have found what they believe to be human remains.

The force added that they have not yet been able to identify the remains. Residents in the area said their usually-quiet street has been "non-stop" since the discovery, as reported by Bristol Live.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said yesterday: "Police are investigating the discovery of suspected human remains in a field in Emersons Green. Officers were alerted just before midday on Tuesday 5 November by a member of the public.

"Police and fire crews attended, and further searches will be carried out today, Wednesday 6 November. Detectives have not yet been able to identify the remains, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained pending a forensic post-mortem examination.
