Devon funeral notices: Heartfelt tribute to Torbay doctor who treated generations

Dr Surjit Singh Gill is remembered as an "immensely proud" dad, grandad and husband

by · DevonLive

A heartfelt tribute has been paid to an ophthalmologist who treated generations of families in Devon for more than 50 years. The family of Dr Surjit Singh Gill, who was among the first Sikh men to settle in Torquay, say their proud dad, grandad and husband will be "hugely missed".

The message is among more than 80 dedicated to lost loved ones in Devon this week. We publish the notices every week as part of a longstanding tradition in local media.

Last week, the family of well-known Exeter salon owner Joanne Harry announced that she had died at the age of 53. They said they would remember her as a cherished wife and adored mum.

The funeral notices, along with in memoriams and acknowledgements, first appear on funeral-notices.co.uk where they remain online permanently. It also allows people to add their own photos, tributes and donations, should they wish to do so.

The most up-to-date death and funeral notices in Devon can be found here. Below are the notices from earlier this week:
