The Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok announced on September 26 that Myanmar citizens in Thailand can now obtain new passports on the same day without an appointment, urging individuals to visit the embassy directly to avoid high fees charged by agents.

This service is available to various groups, including workers with PJ passports, monks, hospitalized patients and their attendants, students, and crew members on foreign ships, as long as they present the required documentation. Both the embassy in Bangkok and the Consulate Office in Chiang Mai are facilitating same-day passport issuance.

Factory workers can also be processed in groups by their supervisors, ensuring same-day service if all documents are complete. The embassy noted that current demand is manageable, allowing for walk-in registrations before noon on working days. They also warned against freelance representatives who may impose excessive charges for passport services.
