During a recent inspection of the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge project, Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Senior General Min Aung Hlaing emphasized the importance of completing the construction on schedule, highlighting the project's potential benefits for the local community. His remarks were made on October 8 while he also visited the upgraded planetarium at the People’s Square and People’s Park in Dagon Township, Yangon Region.

The Senior General instructed officials to systematically ensure adequate water clearance for vessels navigating the waterways and piers associated with the bridge. At the site, he received updates on the bridge's progress, including reports on the completion of the approach bridge on the Dala bank and the main bridge, as well as advancements on the mid-stream tower and approach bridge on the Yangon bank. Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant briefed him on quality control measures, worksite safety, and environmental conservation efforts.

The bridge project originated from discussions during President U Thein Sein's goodwill visit to South Korea in 2012, and construction began in 2013. This cable-stayed bridge will provide easier access for residents of Yangon to coastal areas and enhance connectivity to the Ayeyawady Region through several townships, alleviating some traffic congestion in Yangon and fostering development in various sectors, including social, economic, education, health, and transportation. Once completed, the Dala Bridge is expected to become a landmark in Yangon City.
