According to a statement from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA-Myanmar), as of October 2024, only 28.5% of the necessary funds for Myanmar's humanitarian response plan have been received.

The 2024 Myanmar Humanitarian Response Plan, which commenced in October 2024, has secured only 28.5% of the required funds. UNOCHA highlighted the urgent need for additional funding to help humanitarian partner organizations adequately address the growing needs.

Myanmar's civilians are facing increasing risks from widespread conflict and the devastation caused by flooding. An estimated three million people have been displaced nationwide, according to UNOCHA.

Since September 9, approximately one million people, including many who were already displaced by conflict, have been affected by flooding in 70 of the 330 townships in the country due to the impact of typhoon Yagi and heavy monsoon rains.

Humanitarian organizations providing assistance to those affected by both the flooding and conflict are grappling with multiple challenges, including poor road infrastructure, restrictions on movement imposed by various authorities, lack of safety, and limited funding, according to UNOCHA.

In response to the escalating armed conflicts, political instability, economic turmoil, and daily violence experienced by the population, as well as the displacement caused by both conflict and natural disasters, the United Nations has launched the 2024 Humanitarian Response Plan, with a strategy focusing on three key pillars.
