Union Minister orders strict screening to prevent blacklisted individuals from leaving the country

On November 4, U Myint Kyaing, the Union Minister for Immigration and Population, met with airport staff at Yangon International Airport and addressed the gathering.
The Union Minister emphasized the need for operations to comply with laws and procedures, conduct screenings that meet international standards, and ensure technical expertise. He highlighted that individuals listed on the blacklist should be systematically screened to prevent their departure from the country, while also avoiding wrongful restrictions on those not on the list.
Additionally, he urged staff to maintain security awareness and coordinate with relevant departments.
Reports emerged recently that U Aung, the owner of the well-known Aung Thamadi Gold Shop, attempted to travel to Thailand via Mandalay Airport but was sent back. The State Administration Council announced earlier this year that an arrest warrant had been issued for U Aung due to his involvement in gold price manipulation.
Currently, those planning to work abroad cannot use PV-type passports, and anyone attempting to travel with this type of passport will be sent back from the airport.
